About Photosites
A different kind of photographer directory
I believe that the best photography companies have a strong emphasis on the person behind the brand.
Photosites exists to highlight the top wedding, portrait, and business photographers in a way that allows them to demonstrate their expertise and personality.
Any photographer who meets the requirements can set up a free profile to showcase their best work, add basic pricing information, and receive reviews from their clients.
Searchers can easily browse, save profiles, and reach out to their favorite photographers.
Why I'm building Photosites
I'm building Photosites to solve a few fundamental problems that exist when searching for photographers.
As a searcher, I'm often frustrated with results that aren't relevant to my search. When I search for a photographer I often see:
- Sponsored results from a completely different area (often hours away)
- Big companies that don't tell me who my photographer will be
- Photographers who are no longer active, or have moved
- Websites with very little information or broken contact forms
- Directories that only show enough information when photographers have paid for placement
As a photographer, I've always felt like most directories are either extremely expensive, or offer useless free profiles.
Here are a few ways that Photosites solves these problems...
Active Curation
Each profile is reviewed at submission, and the system will periodically check websites to make sure you aren't sent to photographers who are no longer in business.
Every listing is backed by a real person, who must upload their profile picture to be accepted.
Free Profiles
The free profiles on Photosites include features that make them actually useful. Affordable paid listings are available, but not required.
Better Reviews
The ability to review photographers is built into the platform. Reviews are verified and moderated, and will not be randomly removed by an algorithm.
Photographers can respond to reviews, and appeal fake reviews.
Transparency
All profiles (including free profiles) have analytics to show photographers how many people have viewed their profile, clicked through to their website, and inquired through the site.
The person behind the brand
I'm Corey. I was a full time wedding photographer for about 10 years, and have spent the last 10 years teaching photographers about websites and SEO with Fuel Your Photos.
I'm now curating this directory as a way to bring those skills together.
I get to showcase amazing photographers, and make searching for photographers more intuitive and useful.
